I know that some may say that having an "open" primary leaves too much of a risk for monkey business by the Republicans who might want to screw up the Democratic primary, but I believe most people are very serious about their votes and would not go to the polls in large numbers with the intention of using their votes to play dirty tricks. To me that risk is far outweighed by the benefit of allowing all those who favor the Democratic candidates to participate no matter what their party affiliation, if any, may be.
