The lack of WMDs, continued American casualties, jobless "recovery," Cheney, crappy health care plan, PLUS the SOTU.

Add that to the fact that according to the poll nearly 60% are now paying close attention to the race and they hear pounding from the Democrats on Bush's record, and people are starting to lose faith in Bush.

That said, the realists are right -- these numbers won't last, and Bush will lead for some time, but these #'s give hope. The downward trend in his ratings is significant and if this holds up for awhile it'll really help the nominee.

November could go either way, but I really think '04 could break the 50-50 stalemate our way. It won't be overwhelming, but beating Bush by 5% or so is a realistic outcome.
