9. What I'm impressed with is that it's ALREADY at 51%, after one...
indictment, a press conference and a week of mixed quality news and Rovian "talking points," after the corporate news monopolies had pretty much blackholed for two years.

It reminds me of the American people's opinion of the Iraq war BEFORE the invasion--before all the lies were exposed, before the full horror and cost of it were known. (58% opposed, Feb. '03).

People here tend to underestimate the American people (calling them "sheeple"). I think they're fairly well informed (however they achieve it), and quite savvy. They didn't trust Bush way back then--before the full story was known. They now positively detest him and his junta, and most are probably hoping with all their hearts that Fitzgerald and the Democrats can bring them down.

One thing they are not savvy about is HOW they have been disempowered by the corporate news monopolies (by their giving a Big Trumpet to a rightwing minority, way out of proportion to their real numbers), and DISENFRANCHISED (quite directly, by far rightwing Bushite corporations controlling the vote tabulation with "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code in the new electronic voting systems).

The latter is the biggest secret of all--one being kept not just by the news monopolies (who DOCTORED their own exit polls, late on election day, to FIT the results of Diebold's and ES&S's secret formulae--polls that Kerry had won), not just by the Bushites (because they like having their buds "tabulate" votes), but also by the Democratic Party leadership (probably mostly due to venal corruption at the state/local level in the $4 billion electronic voting boondoggle).

Once the American people figure all this out--and I think that's moving along pretty well--there is going to hell to pay in the corporate boards rooms of our government.

The Libby indictment is not only of "great importance," as to our national security and the utter criminality and treason of the Bush junta, it is going to cause people to think back to Nov. 2, 2004 and start asking just how pervasive the crimes, the treason, the lies and corporate news monopoly illusions are.
