The US is based on neo-imperial/colonialism, our wealth is based on sucking the resources & cheap labor out of the less industrialised nations. There is no "good old days" to go back to & nothing to "take back".
The Dems even caved in on the progressive income tax back in Carter's regime. Since then the march to neofascism has carried on with hardly a hitch.
I don't think that 19th century political ideas will cut in the 21st century & the age of global corporate dictatorship. It's not political parties or nations that matter any more, but corporate power.
