It's Clear: Hillary IS Waiting for Something Terrible To Happen To Obama.

But that is not why she is staying in this race. It's clear she can not win at this point. There simply are not enough delegates for her to win. She has gone far beyond the Huckabee Index. Any good candidate seeking to allow the Democratic Party to move forward into the General Election would concede at this point. But she and her own campaign have said it too many times now: they are staying in because something terrible or disastrous can happen to Obama. What could happen? Another scandal? Unlikely. I would like to ask them exactly what then. Let them spell it out for us in clear language. McCauliff is quoted as smiling with an "Absolutely" when Russert questioned him with an "Act of God". I'd really like to hear what terrible disaster they are dreaming of.

And even if something did happen, Clinton does not need to end her campaign. Like Edwards, she could do the right thing and merely suspend it, allowing the party to move forward with a "presumptive nominee". If the disastrous thing they are considering did happen, she could resume and then she would be the presumptive nominee. And she would win. With dignity. And without dividing the party further.

Instead, she and Bill are going around using divisive politics that they have grown accustom to using during this primary campaign. I do not believe at this point that she will quit even when Obama has won the 2026 Delegates needed to secure the nomination. She will stay in and tear the party up for the sake of "Hillary" and she will take this to the convention. I believe this because she could do the party a whole lot of good by suspending now, honorably. But she isn't. And that is why it's clear that she is staying in the race to divide the party as a means to prevent Obama from winning the general election. By doing so, she is more of an asset to McCain at this point than she is to the Democratic Party.
