I guess it's the blatant racist in me, but when you have more and more people telling you that a certain person is the cure for all that ails us, the farther I recoil. Maybe there are others like me that refuse to Jones Town themselves in a parody of a campaign by both candidates. The only thing that I know that I feel on a gut level is that Obama is not genuine, is a pandering tool, willing to use passive-aggresive behavior to his own ends, and through back channels makes sure that the racism card is tagged ever so gently on anyone that dares point out that he is not the one that will win us the White House. Not that Clinton will either, but I don't have the gut feelings that I have with her that I have with him.
He is the epitome of the cardboard parody of a candidate. Shallow, and demanding nothing but listening to his unremarkable speeches of candyland and paradise, you listen with glazed eyes to the promises of a Chicago hack politician; one that can't keep his friends and their propery boundaries straight.
That's why when the first debate occurs and McCain shows up, don't expect the Nixon Kennedy replay, because it will be someone that actually has his feet on the ground compared to a balloon needing tethering to the ground. The slighest breeze will send Obama to the side of the stage.
It's our loss. The Obamites have savaged the past unrecognizable, and the fantasy island is still taking on more.
This place is not the real world. DU is "allegedly" poulated by intelligent people, hence our Obama skew according to another poster, the stupid Hillary people don't have the brains to find the electrical cord for that computer thing. From people, to institutions, to the Clinton presidency, which was a masterpiece compared to the crap comparisons to (unbelievably) Carter, Joe Wilson, his wife, all are thrown on the bookburning fire to warm the little hands of the Obamites. Dance and sing, because the party is coming to a close, and by party I mean your tragically hip retro-wet dream of reliving the 1968 Democratic Convention riots. So sad, as you will not be able to blog from the street as you are 50 blocks away behind a fence with a Port-a-John. Your romaniticism of the past and what made up mid century American will only be able to be relived through your purchases at Design Within Reach.
What a tragic situation of complete fucked-upedness. Every generation gets the dissapointment they deserve, here is to yours.
