Guess which "John-Johns" were MIA in the Senate?

Kerry and Edwards say that they are FOR the American workers, and support those who are out of work because of the Bush Depression.

Thursday's Senate vote (motion) to extend unemplyment benefits to out of work Americans failed by TWO votes. Need to guess whose missing two votes defeated the motion?

Vote Summary
Question: On the Motion (Motion To Waive CBA Cantwell Amdt. No. 2617 )
Vote Number: 18
Vote Date: February 26, 2004, 04:06 PM
Required For Majority: 3/5
Vote Result: Motion Rejected
Amendment Number: S.Amdt. 2617 to S. 1805 (Protection of Lawful
Commerce in Arms Act )
Statement of Purpose: To extend and expand the Temporary Extended
Unemployment Compensation Act of 2002, and for other purposes.

Not Voting - 3
Campbell (R-CO)
Edwards (D-NC)
Kerry (D-MA)

This was buried deep within a NY Times article about the gun bill. (!??!) Democrats put this amendment (a vote to attach a benefits extension as a rider) into a bill that Republicans were determined to pass, exempting gun manufacturers from liability. 11 Republicans voted in favor of the amendment and if the "John-Johns" had been there, Americans whose unemployment benefits were running out would have been given an additional 6 months benefits. But both pseudo populists were too busy campaigning - trying to gain power - that they left the unemployed hanging out to dry.

This is only one example of both these candidates being MIA in the Senate; Edwards has missed about a third of his votes this past year alone and Kerry over half. How many close votes were lost on important issues because these guys didn't vote? And when they did bother to show up, most of their votes were in support of just about everything on BushCo's and the GOP-controlled Congress' wishlist!

Maybe we should all send Kerry & Edwards a Hallmark thank-you card from jobless Americans.

Better yet, let's just send them our "Dear John-John" message by voting for the only true-blue populist, Dennis Kucinich, in the Super Tuesday primaries (if your state hasn't already had its primary).

We don't WANT any Bush-lite replacements!
