9. I love your soulful Border Collie's eyes, and the tabby looks just like my old cat
The cat approached me near the ticket booth of the Wood's Hole-Nantucket ferry. He was ~3 months old, an adorable tawny tabby, and the ticket lady said he had been hanging around for 2-3 days, hiding in the bushes when the sound of trucks and cars loading onto the ferry scared him. She gave him only water, hoping he'd find his way home.
I left my phone number with her, tucked him into the front of my sweater, and took him with me to Nantucket. I called the pound/humane society phone number for that area of Cape Cod but thankfully no one called, and I got to keep him! Mr. Ticket was the best cat.

When we were at the ferry terminal the departure was delayed from 8:00 pm to midnight because they had to weld something on the ferry's door. Some cute older ladies were waiting with their easels and satchels, heading out to Nantucket for a plein air painting class. When one noticed that the kitten had spots on his chest/belly she said, "Oh, I think it's a girl-it has nipples!"
