The Grammy's last night confirmed this for me again this year as it has every year lately. You know like when that Drake guy was up there with Eminem and Little Wayne, like what am I missing here? I even looked up the lyrics this morning (since last night it just sounded like noise and random chanting lyrics) and they were as dumb as I was expecting.

So what is the redeeming quality in Rap music? I've liked some of it in the past, like NWA and Dr Dre, Run DMC, Snoop Dog, you know all that stuff from 20 years ago. Now each song is indistinguishable to me and it just sounds like redundant noise and chanting and stuff.

Another good example is the latest Jay Z song about New York? Seriously, what is this? It just sounds like he's saying as many New York things that rhyme together all in one song but like what's the point? Not that it should even have a story or say something interesting but it just doesn't sound fresh and new and modern at all, it sounds like something anyone could have done in 1995.
