the person responsible for the hiring decision didn't feel comfortable with a 22 year old who was clearly more motivated and intelligent than the leadership.
There is a percentage of leadership that has the foresight and vision to snap such people up, though they usually wind up taking credit for the work of the person they hired.
Most will be content to not rock the boat and hire those who agree and don't push.
