31. I had a rough patch in July
I'd been feeling really tired and run-down for months. I chalked it up to my schedule. I finally went to the doctor, and he ordered some blood tests.

When I went back to get the results, the doctor gave me a copy of the results and told me to go to emergency. (I'm not critical, or anything.)

I went to the ER the next day after work, and checked in with the triage nurse. They took me right in - I didn't even have to wait in the waiting room. I had about 10,000 doctors check on me. I had to go get a test done, and the orderly seemed very concerned that I might be dizzy, and could I stand...

Long story short. I was really, really anemic. I had a third of the hemoglobin I should have had. I was in a proper room within a few hours, and they started the blood transfusion. 4 units. That brought me up to two thirds for my hemoglobin level. I can now walk a block without wheezing!

I was out of the hospital for a day, and then went back because I had picked up some horrible gastro bug. They're very cautious with people who've had transfusions, so again, I went right into the ER, and was soon admitted to a room.

So much for the theory that you can't get decent care in Canada. My only complaint is that I looked like a heroin addict for a few days, but that's hard to avoid when you get stuck with so many needles.

How have you been? You were thinking of moving. Did that happen? I hope you are well and happy.
