18. I used to have "posting" problems with my old bank.

I used to bank with PNC. They were the worst. My finances, or rather my "finances" are VERY simple. I don't have any credit cards, no outstanding debts, no mortgage (I rent) and I write ONE check a month. Everything else I pay with cash. PNC couldn't manage to keep even that straight. I'd make a deposit and then get notices that I was overdrawn. The last time I had this problem my deposit had actually cleared (after 3 business days) and the money was in my account. Suddenly, one day the money was NOT in my account. I eventually got it straightened out and then closed my account. They never gave me an explanation for what had happened. The funny thing is that these problems would almost always happen during the first week of the month when I'd be writing a check for rent. I would be taking my life in my hands every time I wrote a rent check even when there was money in my account to cover it. Suddenly, the money would be gone and my check would bounce. I would then have to go to the bank and the tellers would treat me as though I was someone trying to scam them. I had this problem several times and often ended up dealing with the same two bank employees. You'd think that as soon as they saw me they'd immediately check to see if my last deposit had been posted, and posted properly, since that was always the problem I seemed to be having with them. No, they'd look at me blankly and try to give me the brushoff or act as though I simply wasn't keeping track of my money; and every time I'd produce a deposit slip showing my last deposit and then they'd deign to take me seriously. The WORST bank ever.
