If you've ever seen Hitchcock's "The Birds" then the scene might disturb you a bit. It's truly strange to see this black/brown/orange "carpet" of birds resting on my lawn... walking over patches of unmelted snow... and drinking where ever they can find pools of melted snow.

Are they headed northward for the coming spring? Is this a good sign that spring is coming?

Or are they stragglers that are just NOW hitting Maryland on their way to warmer climes?
