6. A couple
Bread's self-titled debut and Third Eye Blind's self-titled debut. The 3EB one helped me through my miserable freshman year of high school, and Bread's debut was the soundtrack of the very emotional months that followed a difficult break-up in college. I remember playing it over and over. I still love both of these albums. 3EB's follow-ups didn't manage to live up to their debut; the first album's lyrics still have an effect on me emotionally- the darker tracks that make up what would have been the album's "side two" in the record/casette era. As for Bread, they're constantly ragged on but I'm an unapologetic Bread fan, and their first album may be their best: a great pop-rock album, with a number of dark and/or wistful tracks.
