Regardless of the history of gun control (a topic on which I admit I am not particularly well-versed) you cannot convince me that taking assault rifles off the streets isn't anything but a great thing. There is not sane reason why anyone not in the military needs to own that sort of weapon.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about fixing education, health care, etc, but I'd like to have my cake and eat it too, thank you very much.
