5. That was an utterly HORRID day for me
I was never a Stevie fan until a couple years earlier. Me and a friend were at the KY State Fair in L'ville. She'd run into some people she knew from her hometown who happened to have extra tickets to Stevie Ray's show. Not one to look a free ticket in the mouth, we joined them. He was mezmerizing. I still wasn't a huge fan of his records but that was one of the most amazing shows I'd ever seen (didn't hurt that we were right up front, I'm sure. ;))

Then, on this day in 1990 I was near bursting with my first kid. I was really tiny and they'd discovered she was not only breech, but also facing inward. I was scheduled to have a procedure to try to coax her into the proper position. This essentially consisted of 2 doctors and nurses on either side of me. I was strapped to a table very much in the Jesus Christ/condemned killer pose. They then used the heels of their hands, forearms, etc to try to get her to turn. It might not sound like much but it was EXCRUCIATING.

After that failed and they scheduled a C-section for 2 days later, I waddled my 9 months pregnant/in agonizing pain ass to my non-air conditioned in the boiling hell of August car to drive to my non-air conditioned in the boiling hell of August 4th floor walk-up.

Heard the news about Stevie right as I pulled into the parking spot. :(
