Butch & Liz and Jeanette are all three deeply religious. They seem to think the Republican way is the biblical way. They're not the first & won't be the last.

And now you're wondering, then how in hell do I stay friendly with them?

Easy: we don't talk politics and we don't talk religion.

This is how I stay sane. I'm not moving, so I'm going to see Butch & Liz practically every day for the next 14 years or so. I've made a good friend of Jeanette -- I always make friends more easily with people who've been deeply hurt in life -- and I'm not giving up on her simply because of her party affiliation.

Again, YMMV.

And Allen: the constitution will NOT be amended to deny our right to marry. It won't. But you know what? If it were, I'd leave, too.
