This morning I had a new car stereo put into my car. I had one of those late 90s stock cd AND tape player head units. Both were dying a slow and painful death. The CD player skips so bad I couldn't even use it and I was only using the tape player with a tape to stereo adapter so I could listen to Stern through my external Sirius. Three weeks ago, my tape player started spitting out the adapter and making a buzz that was less than comfortable.

Anyhow, my new head unit has neither a tape or cd player. In the glove box, there's a cord that hooks directly to my ipod and my head unit takes over control. How fucking cool is that. And I have my Sirius hooked up directly in the back.

At first I was a little hesitant because I still have hundreds of CDs at the house. But all of them are ripped to my Ipod and I haven't purchased a new CD in years since I 'find' albums I don't have via Bit Torrent.

So today, I say farewell to the compact disc. Much like my ex wife, I just can't see the two of us hanging around each other for much longer.
