The "imbalance in spinal fluid" is a result of the spinal fluid leaking out from a tear in the dura (the membrane covering brain & spinal cord and holding that fluid in) which is a complication from the surgery, doesn't just "happen on its own".

I hope the surgeon was forthcoming with you on that point instead of trying to attribute it to some mysterious "imbalance" that just happened. Doesn't mean they did anything wrong, but they should be honest if they have complications.

I had a mild spinal headache once after a diagnostic spinal tap procedure, but sounds like yours was a real doozy.

Occasionally these dural tear situations are bad enough that they require more surgery, with application of various substances in an attempt to "patch" the torn area and stop the leaking and headache.
