Neocon Bingo: A DU Contest

This is a big week. Expectations are high. While there is indeed a possibility that the Fitzgerald grand jury will not return any indictments, many people -- from the White House to the corporate media -- believe the grand jury will return indictments.

It is interesting to speculate who may be indicted. Will it be one or two people, perhaps just Karl Rove and Lewis Libby? Or is it possible that Fitzgerald is going to expose a larger group that engaged in a conspiracy that ranks with Watergate and Iran-Contra?

The Democratic Underground has been an interesting place to follow this important case. In general, I believe DUers are better informed, and hence more insightful, about the case than most of the country, including many of those paid to report on it.

Thus, I suggest a game called "Neocon Bingo." I am including a list of 25 people involved in some way with this case (well, 24 are). Let's place some bets here, shall we? For any/all of these 25 characters, you can predict one (or more) possible outcomes: {1} Indicted; {2} unindicted co-conspirator; {3} implicated, but not charged; {4} song bird; {5} exonerated; {6} convicted -- go to jail, do no pass "go"; and {7} totally humiliated, the stuff of jokes for the rest of human history.

Further, if a person is to be indicted, there are five choices: {1} espionage, which is sharing classified information with those who are not entitled to it; {2} perjury -- the old liar, liar, pants on fire charge; {3} obstruction of justice -- things like trying to coach a witness on Aspen leaves; {4} revealing the identity of a CIA agent under the 1982 act; and {5} "other" -- many people use the word "treason": while I think there is zero chance of that being a charge, despite the fact it may be true, there are other possible charges.

This list is not complete. (I know I forgot Poland.) Feel free to add others. But here are 25:

George W. Bush
Dick Cheney
Lewis Libby
Karl Rove
Colin Powell
Condi Rice
Don Rumsfeld
Dick Armitage
Steve Hadley
Paul Wolfowitz
Dan Bartlett
George Tenet
Andrew Card
Ari Fleischer
Eliot Abrams
John Ashcroft
John Bolton
Newt Gingrich
Karen Hughes
David Wurmser
John Hannah
Judith Miller
Robert Novak
Mary Matalin
Richard Nixon's soul

Good luck!
