As far as a Prius we waited about 6 months for ours (we got it in March). I heard a rumor that the wait is now a year. Occasionally they do get one that isn't promised to anyone yet.
My hubby may be selling our '02 to buy an '06 if he gets the job he wants with the union.
We are a 2 Prius house and right now with the '05 I'm getting 53 MPG.
