12. vCJD is the disease one gets from eating infected meat

and it can lie dormant in your system for 20 years. It's not just in beef either.

My husband's aunt had CJD. It can only be diagnosed via a brain biopsy and the surgical tools used must be thrown away. The prions live despite sterilization. She died in 1994. This "problem" has been around for a long time, imo.
