In 1936 Socialist Prime minister Leon Blum's governmant passed such legislation as the 40-hour week, paid holidays for the workers, or collective bargaining on wage claims.
Blum became the first socialist and the first Jew to be Prime Minister of France (looks like they weren't all anti-semites after all).
