Operation Wake-Up Call

This is an idea thats been running through my head for a few weeks, I'd like some DU input.

I work with some hard core Bush supporters, who have been in party mode since the election with no sign of stopping. Some are younger (under 30), some have kids who are of draft age. I've been considering sending a letter to their home address on (faked) letterhead from a non-existant Republican-sounding office. Something like this:

Dear Bush supporter,

Thank you for your continuing support of our President and the war on terror. As you know, during the election campaign, President Bush promised that this war would continue to be fought with an all volunteer military. He is confident that we can fight this war without re-instating the draft.

But high-level military commanders have made it clear that at least 50,000 additional troops will be needed in the coming year. The missions to bring free elections to Iraq and Afghanistan have called for more personnell than initially believed.

You can help President Bush keep his promise, AND support our nation in the continuing war on terror. By enlisting in the Armed Forces of the United States, you will show the world that we do not back down from foreign threats.

Enclosed is an Enlistment document. Just fill out this form and bring it to any local Miliary Recruiting center to enlist in the branch of your choice. With your support, the personnell shortfall can be overcome without any need for a draft.

Thank you,
