the fact that he is not only ignorant, but arrogant is the
the best possible set of characteristics an empire could dream
of. His mind is frozen in adolescence, and he can not
possibly ever think or act as an adult. He will continue
to act out his life from a sense of unrealistic self importance,
never coming close to realizing his actual place in the scheme
of this world. He has been encouraged by our media and culture
to develop all the WRONG aspects of his character.
This is deliberate. As an ignorant and arrogant person, completely
void of true character, Doug will never understand that the
very people he supports created his pathetic limitations as
a human being, and that they will ultimately destroy all chances
for him and the people he loves to ever crawl out of the
gutter- that is the irony. Doug actually thinks this is as good as it
gets. And upon reflecting on these things, I don't think I am
coming from a sarcastic place actually.
But the full realization that this country is crawling with people
like Doug makes me want to go far, far away.
It's going to get worse, not better.
