6. I STRONGLY disagree. She plays directly into the rightwingers' hands

by personifying their stereotype of the "Hollywood liberal left." What she said does not bother me personally (even though I usually find that stuff distasteful in such a setting) but this lapse in judgment gave ammunition to the right-wing. She handed them anti-liberal talking points on a platter, and they couldn't be happier.

Right-wing America relies heavily on image, and Whoopi & her humor are NOT typical of the Democratic party. We need to portray ourselves for who we really are - a diverse crowd for sure, but some of us dress and act and speak in a surprisingly low-key manner.

Let the rethugs like Dennis Miller be the ones who are lewd, crude, and in-your-face. He's today's rightwing version of yesterday's leftwing Jerry Rubin. Let them be the ones who have to live down outrageous stereotypes; we've got better things to do.

Maybe I'm an old fuddy-duddy, but I speak from experience. So that's my $.02 worth; flame me if you want.

On edit: grammar correction
