Mothers and fathers of GIs in Iraq should not be surprised whenever....

more of their loved ones are killed nd maimed. Violence begets violence indeed. Our actions in the last couple of days do not translate into fewer American deaths but, to the contrary, more unnecessary casualties. For every action there is a like reaction. It is as certain as a law of physics. More of our troops are going to die. That is what we are accepting when we accept the policy that we have invoked and carried out in the last few days.

Do not deceive yourselves into believing that we are like Rambo and our enemies will lay down their arms and surrender just like they do in the movies. Whenever they lose a loved one, and they have lost more than us, their resistance is only strengthened. That is the reality on the ground, in the blood, in the mangled bodies, in the hatred of our actions. Let us not feign surprise when more of our young people are butchered in that far off land.
