In an item prompted by Mel Gibson.... Peter Jennings sets out to find out whether the Jews really did kill Jesus. He begins by finding someone who thinks the Romans killed Jesus... he then talks to a few experts and eventually concludes, that, most probably, a "small group of the Jewish elite involved in domestic security", at least helped the Romans kill Jesus. He then adds that there is no independent evidence apart from the gospels of this.

... no this is not Monty Python... and there was no sign that I could see of Jennings biting his tongue.
