18. The problem is...

Well, in my case, for instance, the price of goods and services has gone up so much since Bush I that in order to pay the rent, often I have had to take TWO full time jobs. The ones who are hurt the most by Republican NeoCon policies are the ones who have the most to lose by protesting. Were I to quit one of my jobs to work as a volunteer or whatever, how would I pay the rent? And I'm one of tens of millions of people who are in the same situation....

A lot of us are just too damn busy trying to scrape by to take up arms in the street. I think this is intentional, BTW. Back in 1968, you could feed a family of four on the wages of the father of the family, even if he was blue-collar. This meant that since it wasn't as expensive to just simply live, a lot of people had time on their hands and the comfort and luxury to use it the way they wanted. So we started looking around, wondered what the hell our lives were for, noticed problems, and started wanting to fix them.

That's when the trouble started. The government/corporate solution? Take their leisure time away from them. Make them so fixated on just keeping themselves fed that they won't have the time or energy to protest, look for a new way of living, seek the meaning of life, or lob Molotovs.

It worked. At least, that's my theory. I'm probably fulla shit....My wife thinks I'm wrong about this, BTW.
