Let me get this part out of the way right off. I've been happily heterosexual all my life, married to the same woman for 35 years and father of two heterosexual daughters.
Now, for the important stuff: John Kerry must confront this constitutional amendment against gay marriage bullshit forcefully and immediately. He can even recycle the eloquence he mustered against the DOMA. But he CANNOT equivocate on this issue. Not only because it is an outrage, but because it gives him the perfect opportunity for the third time in his life to act heroically.
