Bush shouldn't even try being a "regular guy," be it drunk or sober. The press may have had a ball with the "I have a scream" crap but that "Are you gonna buy some ribs" clip was the biggest embarrassment of the election to date, regardless of party lines. He should do what he does best, which is the smirky "bring it on" arrogance as displayed at the send of the MTP interview:

"I'll tell you, though, I'm not going to change, see? I'm not trying to accommodate — I won't change my philosophy or my point of view."

and...

"Well, I don't plan on losing. I’ve got a vision for what I want to do for the country. See, I know exactly where I want to lead. I want to lead us — I want to lead this world toward more peace and freedom. I want to lead this great country to work with others to change the world in positive ways, particularly as we fight the war on terror, and we got changing times here in America, too."

This is what he should stick to, because it's what he does best and it's WHO HE IS...an arrogant, worthless, "made guy." And yes, I do believe he's on a combination of something...booze, pills, powder, who the hell knows...Rove is sticking his finger up the puppet's "speak hole" and the puppet is speaking the wrong words. They are not coming out the way President Rove and President Cheney want them to. Apparently they think that medicating the puppet will help but so far it has only made matters worse.
