I simply had to go donate $50 -- Wes Clark can make a difference in the Democratic Party and Ben Chandler supported Wes early.
February 13, 2004
Dear Jeffrey,
Throughout this race, I've talked at length about what's at stake in this election, for our party and our country. I've talked about the need to bring a higher standard of leadership back to the White House, about the need to take back Washington from leaders who privilege special interests at the expense of our great nation, and about the need to stand up for our Democratic values of faith, family, patriotism, and inclusion. And though I am no longer running for President, I will remain a strong voice for this party -- my party -- the Democratic party.
We have an opportunity today to continue the process of bringing a higher standard of leadership to Washington by taking back the U.S. House of Representatives. If we are going to do something about the 9 million Americans who are out of work, the 35 million who live in poverty, and the 44 million who are without health care, we need to break the Republican grip on the U.S. House of Representatives. On February 17th, we can help take the first step in that direction by helping my friend Ben Chandler win the special election to represent Kentucky's 6th Congressional District. And to do this, he needs your financial support today.
Help take back the House today!
https://ssl3.chi.us.securedata.net/chandlerforcongress.org/contribute1.php?Description=WesleyClarkHaving served as a Commander at Ft. Knox during the Vietnam War, I have a special fondness for Kentucky and a sincere desire to see candidates who stand for everyday Kentucky families elected to office. Ben Chandler embodies the qualities we most need in a Congressman. He's a fellow Southerner, a devoted family man and someone I trust. On the battlefield, I've witnessed courage and character, and as Kentucky's Attorney General, Ben showed those very traits by standing up to the most powerful members of his own party when they broke the law or fighting the special interests on behalf of all Kentuckians. And he was the first Kentucky leader to endorse our campaign for the White House.
Ben Chandler is a very good man who deserves to serve our nation in Congress. But he's facing an onslaught of money from Senator Mitch McConnell and national special interest groups who want to undermine his message of standing up for bluegrass families. That's where we can help.
Contribute now and defeat the Republican machinery.
In order to bring a higher standard of leadership to the House of Representatives, I challenge all of our supporters to visit Ben Chandler's website. Let's send a clear message that we intend to help patriots like Ben Chandler achieve victory in the first federal election of 2004.
Thank you.
Wes Clark
