The moderate republican men and the conservative democrat men are pissed about the economy. Losing their jobs to other countries. I work in a white collar office and there is no reason in the world we couldn't move 90% of the jobs to India. I remind them all the time and now I tell them the Bush admin thinks that's a good thing.

But even more than losing their jobs they are freaked about the deficit. And they are thoughtful about the WMD but do not want to talk about it! I think when talking to them its best to leave it alone. (In the last analysis most people do not want to be the school yard bully which is what we are looking like. Don't rub their noses in it, it makes them defensive. It is starting to sink in without our help.)

Say: "I'm worried about leaving this huge debt to my kids. When Reagan took office the national debt was $7,000 for every man woman or child which in today's dollars is $3,000. Today that debt is $35,000 per man woman and child. My families share of the debt is now $105,000. For larger families like yours it is much higher. I am leaving my son a debt which will cripple his future. I don't think giving tax cuts to the rich are worth it."

If I wanna be pissy I say: "I'm one of the few who really did get a huge tax cut from Bush. We decided to spend ours in France which is where we are all going to spend our vacation this summer. Exactly how did those tax cuts to the rich help our economy? Trust me. Making your kids pay for my trip to France, with interest, is a bad deal."
