6. It all depends on what triggers
the war, and what the timing is.

What if some major terrorist attack occurs mid-September, by a country already on the Axis of Evil? Many American lives are lost, and images of this new attack are played over and over again, alongside the images of the Twin Towers.

I like to think all of my fellow DUers would know better than to succumb to such a provocation, but I bet a lot of people even here would want to strike back.

These guys are master manipulators, and don't forget that for one moment. I'm sure they're running focus groups all the time to figure out how people would respond to various scenarios.

Ever been in a focus group? It's quite interesting. I participated in one when Dennis Moore was planning to run for Congress here in the third district of Kansas -- or maybe he was already running, I forget the precise timing. It was fairly easy for me to figure out the point of the focus group session, which was to assess which TV ads and campaign themes would be most effective for him. But how about instead the focus group thinks they're assessing a movie scenario? And I bet these guys would know how to be much more subtle than that.
