78. Definitely a friendly audience.
Gallucci started off by congratulating the audience for getting tickets to the event. When they gave a standing ovation (after looking mostly glassy-eyed during the speech), I started to wonder what screening process was employed. This was no typical college audience if they swallowed that garbage.

On CNN Pinkus (washington post) said Tenet had defended the CIA, then--just as an afterthought--that he had also defended *. Presumably this was the plan--to keep CIA types happy and head off a general revolt. David Ensor said that the WH had vetted the speech, or at least seen it beforehand. That was an AHA! moment for me. I've been thinking of Tenet as protecting his CIA turf. I now wonder how hand-in-glove he's always been with the *WH. Also mention of how * assured him in 2001 of support for the CIA that Clinton supposedly hadn't given.

I feel like a fool for having hoped for something better. This speech was sickening.
