105. Oh for Heaven's sake!
Edited on Thu May-12-05 03:41 PM by comsymp
I've basically avoided these threads because they've been almost entirely emotion-driven, as is to be expected under the circumstances, and have shown far more ugliness than I'd hope to expect. But I've read enough to know that ONE individual made a spurious claim that Andy was perpetrating a scam. Another poster claimed to have called JH and "confirmed" the first post. Based on these posts, THE VAST MAJORITY of the half dozen or so people now being lambasted as naysayers, unChristian cynics and worse, asked LEGITIMATE questions and made LEGITIMATE requests for *any* form of verification of the facts. For this, they're called ghouls, vicious, and are wished some pretty ugly deaths.

Nice, Libs.

Funny, when the American people unquestioningly accept what's being told to them by their elected reps, ministers, friends / coworkers or even family members, we call 'em sheeple... and worse. When one of us voices questions of (insert social / political subject here) and are challenged for Questioning Authorituh, we all huddle here and commiserate over the fascistic tactics of Freepers. But when it's "one of our own" being challenged, the cyber lynch mob is ready to ride.

Frankly, the personal attacks against people who simply asked for *any* form of documentation have been, IMO, the second most disgraceful acts I've seen in this series of events. (The first being, of course, the presumably deliberate attempt to "debunk" Andy's situation)

FWIW, I don't believe he was "forced to display very personal and private medical records." I'd be willing to bet that copies of the checks to JH (as already posted) OR any much more vague piece of info would have been acceptable to them... of course, the fact that his diagnosis has been publicly discussed here does kinda negate the charge of forcing him to display....

Hopefully, when emotions and tempers cool a little, a lot of people here will reflect on their actions and comments, and give serious consideration to mending a few fences.
