Now before you flame me, let me say that I like Clark just fine, the thing is, looking at the prospective nominess in the months since Kerry became the de facto nominee, the constrasts in their behavior is striking. Dean has kept plugging non-stop for his new grassroots movement, Graham has published a VERY important book called "Intelligence Matters" and has been keeping the heat on this administration.

Clark has worked with Kerry, spoken with the media and been a great proponent of the democratic side, but watching him, I get this feeling that he's just TOO NICE do deal with the GOP slime machine. I know the CW is that he would be the dream candidate, but EVERYONE has a skeleton in the closet somewhere, and Rove would invent one if there were none. Kerry is used to these sleazebags. He was staring down O'Neill the scumbag 30 years ago. He dealt with this scummy cabal back during the Iran-contra investigation, and he's a tough, experienced debater.

I would've hated to have seen Clark destroyed by the slime machine. I think he's a genuinely good guy - too good, perhaps.
