“We need someone who is going to go back in the there and undo what President Obama’s done,” said (Jerry) DeLemus (chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, one of the state’s largest Tea-Party affiliated groups), who has been courted by candidates since last spring.

The person for the job is Michele Bachmann, the Rochester, N.H., homebuilder told the Globe yesterday. The PAC, which is an umbrella group for a number of Tea Party affiliated and liberty groups, will make its endorsement next Tuesday.

DeLemus said he likes Bachmann’s stance on immigration. He thinks she will successfully turn back President Obama’s health insurance law. And he appreciates that she “understands the Constitution.”

As for the other candidates, DeLemus said Mitt Romney was a non-starter because he has avoided groups like his own “like the plague.” Jon Huntsman, too, has been inaccessible. Newt Gingrich has been low in his estimation since his support of NAFTA when he was in Congress. Rick Santorum is right on social issues, but he hasn’t talked enough about closer adherence to the Constitution. And Ron Paul is appealing in many ways, but DeLemus said he was scared off by his stances on Iran (too lax) and Israel (not strong enough), he said.

Sounds like some teabaggers are staying on the Bachmann train. Will be interesting to see how long she can stay in the primary process with support from some teabaggers.
