Blair promises to take up case of Scot facing death sentence (in U.S.)

TONY Blair yesterday promised to intervene in the case of Kenny Richey, the Scot sitting on death row in Ohio.

The Prime Minister said he would look into the case of Richey, who has been on death row in the United States for 17 years, but who has protested his innocence all along.

However, Mr Blair replied: "We are continuing to monitor the case closely and see what the result of his appeal is before deciding what further representations we need to make. The Foreign Office is in touch directly with Mr Richey’s lawyers both in the US and in the UK and with Ohio state officials.
