Fingers pointed at Malaysian bombers

Bomb suspects ... Noordin Mohamad Top and Azahari Husin.

Two Malaysian men, both members of the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiah, emerged last night as suspects in the Australian Embassy bombings in Jakarta.

One, 45-year-old Azahari Husin - said by the terrorism expert Clive Williams to be "a known skilled bomb-maker" - is a British-trained engineer with a PhD who received extensive bomb training in Afghanistan.

He was thought to have written the JI bomb manual used in the Bali bombings in October 2002.

The other, 33-year-old Noordin Mohammed Top, is a JI administrator and key planner of the Bali attacks.
