When gas prices skyrocket, people must adjust their spending accordingly.

Unfortunately for the people who don't have any surplus money, who were frugal to begin with and who didn't dine out, go to spas, etc... there's no spending they can easily trim and they have to draw on their savings.

It's sad that people with a little extra income can't dine out but much sadder for the folks who will have no money to retire on.
