The right is now seeking total control of the Republican Party seeing they have lost the Presidency, the U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate. This control by the radical right includes determining who will run for Congressional seats, regardless of the majority opinion within the Republican Party, and the exclusion of moderates from the Republican Party.
This discriminatory behavior has really came out in the U.S. House race in the 23rd District of New York. Dede Scozzafava, a moderate Republican, was a state assemblywoman, small-town mayor, and was nominated to run in District 23 by Republican county leaders. She even had the support of the Republican National Committee and Newt Gingrich, “The special election for the 23rd Congressional District is an important test leading up to the mid-term 2010 elections,” Gingrich said in a statement to supporters. “Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington starts here, with Dede Scozzafava.”
The county Republican leaders quickly found their choice second-guessed by the party’s radical conservative wing. The radical right didn't like Dede because she supported gay rights, abortion rights, and was considered too liberal on various fiscal issues. So in comes the radical right calvary: Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill Kristol backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.
Rush Limbaugh stated on his radio program, "Scozzafava has screwed every RINO in the country, we can say that she's guilty of widespread bestiality. She has screwed every RINO in the country. Everyone can see just see how phony and dangerous they are. You know, 2010 might be a nightmare for PETA. Two animals may become extinct; RINOs and Blue Dog Democrats. Pelosi's gonna kill off the Blue Dogs, and the conservatives are gonna finally get rid of RINOs. The American people have had enough."
http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2009/11/video-rush-limbaugh-scozzafava-guilty.htmlThis is not necessarily bad news for Democrats to have the "wackos" take control of the Republican Party and make their contemptuous discrimination known to the world. The good news is when the radical right takes control of the Republican Party, the beginning of the end of the Republican Party will begin. This includes the more radical right candidates that win GOP primaries, the greater the Democrats’ prospects next year will be.
The Republican Party has become the party of hatred, discrimination, and the party of exlusionism. I thought they were only the party of no, but I guess we are all wrong.
