Does anyone have either FIFA 2010 or 2011?
I downloaded the FIFA 11 demo last night for PS3 and HOLY HELL what a fun game! I had actually never played a soccer game before, but it was SOOO adictive. Because the demo matches were so short (like 5 minute halves) I breezed through about 15-20 matches with only losing a couple times.

Now I really want to get a FIFA game but the 2011 game is so expensive ($60). The FIFA 2010 is now fairly cheap, gamestop has used copies for 20 bucks. Does anyone have either, or have maybe played both. What do you recommend, any serious differences between the two?

Thanks!

I've never played a soccer game but if you liked it that much... Well... I don't want to be missing out on some gaming goodness :D I looked for the demo on Playstation store under FIFA but did not see it, do you remember how they have it listed?

3. did you try EA FIFA?
I swear it was under just FIFA 11, but it might've had EA in front of it.

2. You might want to check out these YouTube reviews for more info.
Guy's name is Mark and his site is the Classic Game Room (CGR).

FIFA '10 review:

FIFA '11 review:

This guy puts a lot of humor into his reviews but he's damn good at what he does, if you're not familiar with him. Worth a subscription because he covers all kinds of games and gaming hardware.

4. nice, I ended up putting in an ebay bid for FIFA 10
both look great, but you can't beat 2010 going for so much cheaper than 2011.

5. I have FIFA 11 currently through Gamefly and I love it

I waited a long time for it too! I had it first on my list since it released in September. You have lots of leagues you can play in, on FIFA 11 they combined Be a Pro and Be a manager modes into one. So you create a player that you can play in game, either as a first person point-a-view or play as whole squad(I always) play with full team), handle transactions and order your roster and choose player roles such as captain.

With transactions is a little tricky for me. First there are so many players out there you have to be specific with your searches. I recommend looking at free agents first, because they come at a decent price but will want a good salary if you're an inexperienced manager(first year). Also if you're playing in a lesser league such as MLS, it will be difficult to attract players that are used to playing in top leagues such as Barclays or La Liga. Also spend and use budget allocation wisely to save because really good players come at high prices.

I absolutely love this game and it is by far the deepest as far as sports franchise modes go. I recommend Fifa 11 if you can because of the control passing and the combination of player/manger modes which FIFA 10 doesn't have. Also play at least at Professional. It can be difficult but on Semi-pro you don't need to press any tackle buttons to constantly steal the ball. Just run into the player. I was getting hat tricks with two players on that mode. That is one thing about FIFA 11. So many controls. I don't even use them all most of the time. Like a lob through pass, the thing about those kind of passes or other controls requires right kind of anticipation and everything moves too fast to process. But it is a blast.

On edit: I noticed you asked for major differences. I pointed to a couple. I haven't played FIFA 10 but know Player/Manager is new, so is control passing. Critics referred to the passing controls in previous versions as "ping-pong passing". Also reviews indicated that scoring goals is harder but I found it isn't unreasonably difficult.

6. I love the FIFA 11 demo
but I ended up winning FIFA 10 through ebay.

SInce this is my first Soccer game, I'm pathetically still working through the beginner level, lol! Hopefully by the time FIFA 10 arrives, I can play it at the higher levels, but now I'm just figuring out how to anticipate when the computer switches the player I control to the guy closest to the ball. I'm getting in trouble during fast breaks with the attackers making quick passes and the computer rapidly switches my control to multiple players, so they're randomly running away from the attacker because I don't know I now control them and still think I'm running with another defender. LOL

7. This is the first soccer game I played since FIFA 2006 World Cup game

I was in the army at the time and me and others played this game against each other all the time and it was a blast. When I first got Gamefly, FIFA was the first thing I put up there right after Red Dead Redemption.

Anyways I'm not sure how that change works without playing it. I know when a defender (that isn't you) steals the ball, even for a second, it switches to that player. All I know is, I'm bad at defense. Whenever the opposing team crosses into my side of the field, I press and hold (B) or Secondary Pressure button. You control your guy and the computer controls another player on your team to set up a steal or an interception. Works really well on Professional. I recently started playing on World Class mode and that is hard as hell. I still hold the secondary press button and it works OK. But the other team has little difficultly finding opportunities to score, mainly through crossers. The only way I allowed goals on Professional mode was through crosses. If you got an attacker on your corner of the field press the switch player button (otherwise you will allow a perfectly executed cross) and press to jockey button and try your best to stay in front of the attacker. One reason is you could steal the ball and is a defense against a good dribbler. The other and probably most important reason is you can block the cross pass on jockey provided you're up close and in front of the defender. Also when that cross is in the air, try your best to get in front of the player the ball is heading too and hold the power kick button to get it out of there. Anyways try to avoid controlling the defensive players when the opposing team is driving. Try to stick with midfielder or something. If you come up with a D player to take the ball you will leave players open down field, provided they aren't offsides.

Anyways this is stictly from a FIFA 11 POV. Never played FIFA 10. Hope you enjoy that game. :)

8. played it for the first time last night
it's a wonderful game. Haven't gotten into the manager mode or anything, just playing exhibition matches. Really getting the hang of everything and being able to play longer matches (did 10 minute halves last night) allows for more deliberate passing and defending. Heh, of course I was also playing as Spain against DC United and as Brazil against the LA Galaxy, so it might not have been totally fair, lol! I plan on working up to where I can do Arsenal vs. ManU, etc.

I really like the arena one on one practice time you get right after matches. I'm going to use that to learn all the finesse moves and whatnot.

9. I just got a 24 inch HD TV and HOLY SHIT! FIFA looks incredible!
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 12:19 PM by charlie and algernon
I got the TV for my birthday and the parents also threw in a HDMI cable to connect the PS3 to the TV. On the previous TVs, the players look like sticks with legs. Now they actually LOOK like players. You can see the arms moving and everything. The level of detail that went in to making FIFA 10 & 11 is insane!

11. I bet
I played NBA Live 08 on someone's PS3 which had HDTV and I must say that was closest to a real game I ever saw in a video game.
