devised a “Southern strategy” - to get Southern White men to support votes for women they appealed to their racism - the more Whites who voted, the more effectively Blacks could be denied rights and privileges. I read this recently and felt sick - the GOP is definitely not the first group to get what they want by appealing to racism.
