SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION A Joint Resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution 1 of the State of Iowa relating to the inalienable right to 2 life. 3 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 4 TLSB 2108XS (3) 85 pf/nh

S.J.R. 10 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of 1 the State of Iowa is proposed: 2 Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended 3 by adding the following new section: 4 Inalienable right to life. SEC. 26. The inalienable right 5 to life of every person at any stage of development shall be 6 recognized and protected. 7 Sec. 2. REFERRAL AND PUBLICATION. The foregoing proposed 8 amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa is referred 9 to the general assembly to be chosen at the next general 10 election for members of the general assembly and the secretary 11 of state is directed to cause the proposed amendment to be 12 published for three consecutive months previous to the date of 13 that election as provided by law. 14 EXPLANATION 15 This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the 16 Constitution of the State of Iowa relating to the inalienable 17 right to life of every person at any stage of development. The 18 resolution, if adopted, would be published and then referred 19 to the next general assembly for adoption a second time before 20 being submitted to the electorate for ratification. 21 -1-
