FL has a very strict signature matching program used on all mail in and absentee voting. If your signature has changed even a tiny bit, and most people's change significantly as they age, your ballot is rejected. Letters are required to be sent, but when I was volunteering in 2018 no one I called (only calling Dems, of course) and no one any of the other volunteers called, had received a letter even though they were marked on the website as being sent. Maybe Repugs get the letter, but Dems never do and we had 100,000 votes disallowed. Without this, both Nelson & Gillum would have won.
In FL, only early voting is truly safe. It's also super super easy, you can vote at any library, the elections office or any other site designated - not just your regular polling place. You can also vote on the weekend. Signatures & addresses for early voting are not strictly screened at all and there are generally no lines. I will be early voting soon as it opens & can't wait to cast my vote for Biden.
