(14,565 posts)I'd say maybe 1 in 1000 golfers ever reach that level.
Lowest I ever got was 2 when I was a hotshot teenager winning junior trophies all the time. I think I could have been a better golfer if I had learned to play lefty instead of righty. I am left handed but my grandfather only had righty clubs so I learned that way. Some say it's an advantage but I'm not buying it. My overly strong left hand wants to twist and turn all the time.
Finally within the past decade I learned to hit wedges and chip shots and putt left handed. That really improved my game, dropping my handicap from 10 back down to 5. It feels like stealing for the short shots to actually start dependably on line. My right hand at lead is wonderfully passive.
Of course, people I play with for the first time think it's amusing when I suddenly switch to the other side at let's say 100 yards. I'd like to get that out to 150 range but I don't play enough to master those lefty clubs that require more of a full swing.
