Workers for multiple major retailers including Amazon, Whole Foods and Target are being urged to take part in a general walkout and sickout on Friday. The focus is to protest working conditions amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

May 1 is traditionally known as International Workers' Day, often marked by marches and protests in honor of labor.

Behind the walkout is Christian Smalls, a former Amazon worker who was fired after organizing a walkout last month at an Amazon warehouse in Staten Island, New York. Amazon said Smalls received several warnings for violating social distancing guidelines.

Wuhan shows the world that the end of lockdown is just the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/29/asia/wuhan-coronavirus-lockdown-analysis-intl-hnk/index.html

Shanghai (CNN)All around the world, people are waiting for the announcement that the coronavirus pandemic is contained and they can return to normal life.

But the Chinese city at the center of the pandemic has shown that normal might still be a long way off.

When Wuhan officials eased outgoing travel restrictions on April 8, effectively ending the city's 76-day lockdown, residents and local businesses soon learned that city's actual reopening would be painfully slow.

Despite the lifting of most strict lockdown laws, many stores are still shut, restaurants are restricted to takeaway and even when citizens go outside they still wear protective equipment and try to avoid each other.

As some states move to reopen after weeks of shutdowns, infectious disease experts say the prevention of future coronavirus outbreaks will require scaling up testing and identifying asymptomatic carriers.

Eight Labrador retrievers — and their powerful noses — have been enlisted to help.

The dogs are the first trainees in a University of Pennsylvania research project to determine whether canines can detect an odor associated with the virus that causes the disease covid-19. If so, they might eventually be used in a sort of “canine surveillance” corps, the university said — offering a noninvasive, four-legged method to screen people in airports, businesses or hospitals.

More at link. The objective is apparently to determine whether dogs can detect the scent of active infection, then task engineers with creating an electronic scent detector for screening large numbers of people.

Personally, I think these dogs should be wearing N-95's (if they were available). What will happen when they become infected & lose their sense of smell?

Some say typing trick could help you get stimulus check faster

https://wreg.com/news/some-say-typing-trick-could-be-key-to-getting-stimulus-check-faster/

COULD CAPS LOCK BE THE KEY?

But there appears to be a way to get the info you want and circumvent the delays, a little trick an L.A. Times reporter said she tried and others have tried, too.

When putting in your address on the get my payment page of irs.gov, enter your address in all caps.

It seems that puts you right through to enter your bank information, allowing you to get your stimulus check directly deposited into your account.

Those who have tried it say it works.

More at link, but this is the important part for those who can't get into the system. Ihope it works. 😊😉👍

Rare inflammatory syndrome seen in US child with Covid-19 [Kawasaki!] Can perm damage heart!]

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/29/health/rare-inflammatory-syndrome-us-covid-19/index.html

National Health Service England sent an alert to doctors and on Sunday the Paediatric Intensive Care Society tweeted it out to members. It warned about a small increase in cases of critically ill children with "common overlapping features of toxic shock syndrome and atypical Kawasaki disease with blood parameters" with some children testing positive for Covid-19.

There have also been some reports in Italy and Spain, doctors said.

team at Stanford Children's Hospital said they had also seen a case. They described the case of a 6-month-old girl admitted to the hospital with Kawasaki disease and later also diagnosed with coronavirus.
Kawasaki disease causes inflammation in the walls of the arteries and can limit blood flow to the heart. It is usually treatable and most children recover without serious problems, but it can be deadly. No one knows what causes Kawasaki disease, but some studies have pointed to a link between viruses or a bacterial infection.

Wonder if this news is what prompted shitstain to insist schools open?!?

Info regarding Kawasaki Disease can be found here, including symptoms. Yhos site states that treatment in the first 10 days is essential to precent possibility of permanent heart damage!

Hong Kong airport brings in cleaning robots and disinfection booth

https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-04-29-20-intl/index.html

This is a rolling blog, so if you wish to read the article, you will likely need to scroll down.

Cleaning robots, temperature checks and antimicrobial coatings could soon become synonymous with airport trips.

Hong Kong airport has provided a glimpse into what international airport procedures might look like once we're traveling again -- and a lot of disinfection technologies are involved.

Officials at the Asian destination's international airport claim it is the first in the world to trial a live operation of CLeanTech, a full-body disinfection booth.

How it works: Those passing through undertake a temperature check before entering a booth for the 40-second disinfection and sanitizing procedures. The individual is also sprinkled with sanitizing spray for "instant disinfection" inside the booth, which is kept under negative pressure, to prevent cross-contamination.

So, is this where shitstain got his disinfectant idea? 😳🤯

Major League Baseball is growing more confident that there will be a baseball season after all. At least two reports identified late June or early July as a likely time frame for the 2020 season's Opening Day.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported the "most realistic time range for Opening Day — somewhere between mid-June and July 4, in the view of most officials — would allow for an 80- to 100-game regular season, with the schedule running through October

SNIP

Nightengale added that MLB is considering a plan that would create three-divisions, with 10-teams each, and teams would only play within their division. The plan would allow teams to play at their home ballparks while cutting back on travel.

Much more at link. They go on to set out proposed teams in each of 3 possible leagues & say the World Serious (g) could be played in Dec
