Great song!

All Things Must Pass just might be the best post-Beatles album, although I personally prefer Plastic Ono Band.

As for the points you raised, it seems to me that legislation should be introduced now mandating that all voting, beginning on November 3, 2020, shall be done by paper mail-in ballot. There’s plenty of time to get it done. The logistics wouldn’t be that difficult.

Uniform mail-in paper ballots (which could be made scannable to expedite the counting process) would address your concerns and leave a paper trail leaving no question as to who won the election while minimizing, if not eliminating, tampering with the results.

I'm in a tailspin

Warren’s suspension of her campaign has hit me hard.

I’m 70 yo. I first voted in ‘72, for McGovern.

I was truly excited to vote for McGovern. And, in my 70 years, I’ve only voted for a presidential candidate with true excitement twice — McGovern and Mondale.

That was it.

Until this year. I was truly excited about the prospect of a Warren presidency and was looking forward to, hopefully, having the opportunity to vote for a presidential candidate with true excitement for a third time.

But, it’s not to be.

I’ll vote for Biden. But, I won’t be excited in doing so.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE — ELIZABETH WARREN

Trump -- Too much debt, must cut entitlements

Nothing sends me off the deep end like this shit. And we all saw it coming. But the media doesn’t even mention it.

We have too much debt due, in large part, to the massive tax cuts you gave to the rich, asshole.

But, that’s been the strategy all along — starve the beast, then cry poverty.

Too many programs that help the poor, seniors, students, the disabled, et al. are gonna be cut if asswipe gets re-elected.

And, just now on CNN, there was a lengthy discussion of the issue of debt and cuts to programs. Not a single fucking syllable was uttered about the Trump tax cuts.

I’m livid. I’m disgusted. I’m outraged. I’m downright mad.

First Iowa and NH weren't representative of the Party. But SC is?

Without question, Biden’s landslide win in SC gave his campaign a big boost.

But I contend too many people are jumping on his bandwagon and anointing him our nominee prematurely.

African Americans accounted for 60% of the SC vote. But of the entire Party, African Americans represent 25% of registered Democrats. Clearly, the support of African Americans is of great importance, and I’m not dismissing or minimizing its importance. But it shouldn’t be dispositive, especially in a state our nominee won’t carry no matter who s/he is.

No one state should determine who our nominee is. But if we were to emphasize the importance of certain states in determining who is “most electable”, it should be the reliably Blue states — most of New England, NJ, DE, MD, IL, NM, MN, CA, OR and WA. Also other states of importance like FL, OH, CO, MI, WI, PA, NV, plus GA and NC.

These are the important states. Not Iowa. Or NH. Or SC. We shouldn’t be jumping on the Biden bandwagon because he rolled through a Red state with a disproportionately high number of African American voters.

At the very least, let’s wait until Super Tuesday before abandoning our first choice.

I’m just blown away by all the DUers who have abandoned their candidate because Biden won one fucking state!

Personally, I’m hoping for a brokered convention. Not a contentious one, but one where we nominate our strongest candidate. And I don’t think it’s Joe. I think it’s Kamala. A moderate-left WOC would romp to victory!

End of rant.

Radical Beatles thinking

Recently, there was a thread containing Top 10 albums. I included in my Top 10 Rubber Soul and Revolver.

First of all, I should have specified US version when I listed Rubber Soul. IMO, the UK version pales in comparison.

But, I recently started thinking back to my adolescence and which Beatles albums I really loved. And this may sound radical, but I’m changing my list. My favorite Beatles album is Beatles ‘65.

Among music critics and just music fans at large, the accepted wisdom marks Sgt. Pepper as the band’s high water mark. Moreover, the general wisdom is that the early Beatles stuff is to be dismissed as the guys just finding their footing.

I say rubbish! I LOVE the early Beatles. I strongly believe they did their best *rock and roll* during their early years. IMO, Beatles ‘65 was the high water mark of the early years. On the strength of No Reply and I’ll Be Back alone, Beatles ‘65 is a masterpiece.

Full disclosure — Never liked Paul, loved John. Which would, in large part, explain my love of the early stuff (their covers were as great as their original stuff) and disdain for Sgt. Pepper.

I've made my final decision

I’m not gonna pay any more attention to the primaries or the endless threads about Bernie Sanders.

I’m just gonna vote for Liz in my primary (if she’s still in the race at that time) and vote for the Democratic candidate for president in November, whoever it is.

In the meantime I’m just gonna turn the noise off and concentrate on the upcoming baseball season! It’s far less aggravating and much more relaxing.

Have fun, kids
