The other day my grand daughter asked me,

Grandpa, what was it like to fight in the Vietnam war, the question floored me as I had no answer for her other than it was horrible.
Are there any other Vietnam vets here who experienced the same questions about our war time experiences?
I would love to hear their answers if not too painful.
Peace out
Daniel.

Found this gem of Prince live, Purple Rain.

I always liked the official version, but, IMHO, this live version out classes it
Enjoy.

I confess that I didn't know much about Taylor Swift's music other than the repukes hated her,

so, I decided to check her music out and this is what I found:

I am now a huge fan of Taylor Swift and her sticking it to the repukes and pissing them off is a bonus in my book.

This has to be, IMHO, one of the greatest guitarists and Live album recorded ever.

Pink Floyd Live.

One of the greatest things that Pink Floyd did was get rid of Russian loving Roger Waters and let David Gilmour take over as lead singer, unfortunately, the keyboardist, Richard Wright, died shortly after this album was recorded.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, which is something I've never been,

but, after hearing Benedict Donald's treasonous speech the other day, I really fear for my gay granddaughter's future.
How can any honest American support this lunatics vision for America's future?

I'm fast approaching my end of life, and I'm fully OK with that, but be as that may be, I will fight until the last breath I breathe to defend the principles of which this country was founded on and defeat Benedict Donald and his MAGAt followers and restore this great country to what it was founded on.
Please join me on this difficult journey.
Peace out
Daniel.

Dental Insurance for Veterans
Because dental care is so expensive, I wanted to share that great dental insurance is available to veterans and their spouses and dependent children. They offer standard and high option. So many folks, especially seniors are without dental insurance. While the VA provides total coverage to 100% disabled vets, this insurance helps all other vets, whether disabled or not. You need to be enrolled in the VA health care system, but do not need to get all of your health care needs there. The choice is between Delta and Metlife. One of the biggest differences between the two that I can tell is that Delta requires a 9 month waiting period for major work and Metlife has no waiting period.

There is no deductible if you use in network dentists.
There is no waiting period for major work except orthodontia.
Standard plan has $1300 which increases to $1500 maximum
High option is $3000 which increases t $3500 maximum.

I hope this is helpful. This is one of the dental insurance plans that we have, and they have been great! We are very satisfied. For more info see www.metlife.com/vadip

Kudos for Desert grandma for getting this vital info out to our veteran members, spouses and dependants

Chuck Mawhinney, Camp Pendleton Marine who became deadliest sniper in corps history, dies at 75

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/chuck-mawhinney-camp-pendleton-marine-who-became-deadliest-sniper-in-corps-history-dies-at-75/ar-BB1irwY9

SAN DIEGO — Chuck Mawhinney, the Camp Pendleton Marine who became the deadliest sniper in the corps' history while serving in the Vietnam War, died on Monday at his home in Baker City, Oregon. He was 75.

The Marine Corps credited Mawhinney with 103 kills as well as 216 "probable" kills that could not be confirmed because of the dangerous conditions in which the shootings happened.

Mawhinney, who attended Camp Pendleton's Scout Sniper School, made the kills during a 16-month period that began in early 1968, when he was fighting the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong. He was a member of Camp Pendleton's 5th Marine Regiment at the time.

The Oregon native recorded all of the kills before he turned 20. The journal American Rifleman says Mawhinney, whose father was a Marine, primarily carried a Remington M40 sniper rifle, typically firing from a distance of 300 to 700 yards. Some shots were made from more than 1,000 yards.

This Marine Scout Sniper was a legend within the Marine Corps.
RIP fellow Devil Dog and cross gently.
